I am a visiting PhD. student. If i want to enroll in university of Hamburg, what do i need to do?
What documents do i need to take?
Dear xiaoyan,
To answer your question I need to know whether you want to enroll permanantly to finish your PhD at Universität Hamburg or you want to enroll only for a short time. It would also be helpful to know in which subject you are doing your PhD and which institute of Universität Hamburg you are visiting.
Best regards,
Birte Schelling

Thank you so much for your reply.
I just want to enroll only for a short time, from this year to August 2018.
I do not need to finish my PhD at University Hamburg.
My major is psychology and I am visiting the institute of systems neuroscience, at UKE.
Thanks again!
Best wish,
Xiaoyan

Dear Xiaoyan,
In this case, you have two options:
1) You can enroll as a free mover. Information on how to do that is provided here: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... mover.html
2) You can enroll as a doctoral student. Information on how to do that is provided here: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... otion.html
The first way is probably the easier way, since it is intended for a short stay and therefore is less bureaucratic (mostly, you need fewer documents). But which way is the best for you depends on the faculty you're with, i.e. the UKE, since in both cases you need a professor to supervise your stay. So what you should do first is get into contact with professors at the institute you're with and ask them whether they will supervise your stay either as a free mover or as a doctoral student. You should also contact the Promotionsbüro of the UKE. Maybe they can tell you which way - from the perspective of the faculty - ist the better option for you. Here's the contact data: https://www.uke.de/forschung/promotion- ... index.html
If you encounter further questions about enrollment in the process which the faculty cannot answer, please feel free to ask here again.

Birte Schelling
