Bearbeitet AP exams

Beitrag von D, Florian »

Hey everyone,
I'm currently spending an exchange year in the US. One of my classes over here is AP chemistry. AP chemistry is a class taught at college level and thus there is the possibility to earn college credits. The required exam is in May. In my future, I want to study medicin, if possible at the University of Hamburg. Would the passing of the AP exam in the US give me any advantages for my college career in Germany?
Sincerely, Florian

Dear Florian,

The passing of that exam wouldn't affect your chances to start a college career in Germany. There is a slight chance that credits from that class might be recognized equivalent to college credits in particular subjects at universities in Germany, but in the case of medicine, I rather doubt that.

If you consider studying medicine at Universität Hamburg, you might want to take a look at the admission requirements and the admission procedure for that study program. The way you have to apply for medicine at Universität Hamburg depends on whether you are considered "equivalent" to German applicants. Applicants deemed "equivalent" to German applicants need to apply via "hochschulstart.de": http://www.hochschulstart.de You can find further information about this way to apply and avbout the question whether you are considered "equivalent" to German applicants here: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... start.html

If you are not considered "equivalent" to German applicants, you have to apply directly to Universität Hamburg. Detailed information about how to apply as an international applicant is provided here: http://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscent ... hluss.html

In any case, you need to acquire recognition of your higher education entry qualification as well as proof of sufficient German language skills, since medicine is taught in German only at Universität Hamburg. Information about the procedure to acquire recognition of one's higher education entry qualification is provided here: http://www.uni-hamburg.de/campuscenter/ ... ung_e.html Information about the needed German language proficiency and about the language certificates accepted by Universität Hamburg can be found here: http://www.uni-hamburg.de/campuscenter/ ... sse_e.html
