Graduation and withdrawal on STINE

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have finished my master studies in February (got my last exam grade), applied for the graduation certificate and it is currently stuck somewhere at the university, because no one can sign it due to the circumstances.

I have just received an email from Campus Center that even without paying the semester fee I will be considered a student, will receive the student ID and semester ticket, but I have no intention of staying as a student for another semester. I am wondering do I need to ex-matriculate myself on STINE or did/will it happen automatically because my certificate should be already issued and I can just ignore the email?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Ekaterina Bulatova

Dear Ekatarina,

Under normal circumstances, you would be automatically deregistered - however, the current circumstances have meant that we could not wait to report your degree.
Therefore, please submit an application for de-registration - you can find it in your STiNE account under "Studies" -> "Applications". This does not have an effect on your graduation certificate - it just wouldn't have been necessary under normal circumstances.

Best regards,
BK

But it says to send it by post as well:

"Please note that your application is only legally binding if you print and sign it, and then send to Universität Hamburg by mail."

Is it also necessary? I am already back to my home country, not sure if the post is even open here and moreover, the letter will definitely come later than the beginning of the semester on 20th of April.

Thanks!

Dear Ekatarina,

You do not have to send the application by post, the electronic version suffices. Please tell me where you found the note you are quoting, then I will see to it that it is removed.

Birte Schelling

Dear Ms Schelling,

Great, thank you!

It was written just before I had to submit the application (in English version), even the address was mentioned.

Best regards,
Ekaterina
