Hi,
The following note for the requirement of an additional confirmation letter has been put up for student visa requirement at the VFS Germany Centre in India.
"For all study-related visas: Written confirmation of the university that physical presence is necessary / that the studies cannot be pursued completely by remote-learning. This we need to issue the visa, and they will need to present a copy of this document when passing immigration at the airport in Germany."
Please let know as soon as there is an update. Also, in case if classes are online, will it be possible to confirm admission without a physical presence?
Thanks!
Hello nowyoucan,
We will post updates as they become available on www.uni-hamburg.de/corona-faq.
If your programme offers face-to-face classes this fall, you will find a permit, exempting you from the Covid-19 travel restrictions, in your STINE account early next week.
Please double check you accepted your admission offer before the deadline. Deferring your admission is not possible at Universität Hamburg, i.e. it is necessary to confirm your admission even if your programme is online-only.
Should you have any further questions or concerns regarding your visa application / arrival in Hamburg, please contact me via pm.
Best regards,
Immanuel Petermeier

Hi Immanuel,
Thank you for your reply. My name is Manish Sharma, I have enrolled for MIBAS and got my bay ID. I am from India.
I saw this update today: The University of Hamburg is currently assuming that the applicable regulations to contain the pandemic will also continue in WS 20/21. The distance rules in particular mean that there will be little usable space available and that only a small proportion of the courses can be held in presence. Digital teaching will therefore continue to determine the range of courses on offer. The scarce space resources are to be made available primarily for courses in the introductory phase as well as practical courses (e.g. laboratory internships, practical exercises).
Without an additional certificate from the University of physical presence required, the German Embassy here in India is not issuing visa, and this process may take around 3 months or more with the current situation. So just wanted to know that will I be allowed to continue the program digitally from India without a student resident permit and health insurance?
The PM feature is not yet accessible for me!
Thanks n Regards!
Manish
