I am Yalan Huang, a doctor student in Chemistry department.
And my PhD pral defense is decided to be on October 7th. The document"antrag-pruefungsverfahren-faq-docata-en " told that we must remain registered until the Oral defense. So I write to ask whether I can register for October instead of the whole winter semester ? And how much is the registration fee ?
I do not need the semester card nor the HVV card anymore. And I just register because I am required to according to the document "antrag-pruefungsverfahren-faq-docata-en ". But it is really a waste of money for me since I do not need the HVV card nor the semester ticket anymore. Could you please show some consideration to my circumstance ?

Dear Yalan,

Registering for just a part of a semester is not possible. So if according to the regulations of you department you have to be enrolled for the oral defense in October, you will have to register for the winter semester and therefore pay the contribution. You can withdraw after the defense and get back the money for the ticket though: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... icket.html

I am sorry I cannot give you an answer which fits your circumstances better.
