Dear Mr./Ms.,

I hope this email finds you well,

I would like to apply to your university to study medicine.

I have a few questions about the application dates at your university and the "Zeugnisanerkennung" process based on my situation. It would be highly appreciated if you could provide me with answers.

- On which exact date does the application for international students open? Starting when can I send my application?

- I have recieved my international baccalaureate (IB) certificate in July 2022. Benötige ich "eine Zeugnisanerkennung von Ihrem jeweiligen Bundesland"?

- Once a student receives an acceptance response from the university, how does the enrollment process work? Is it necessary for the student to be present in Germany in order to complete the enrollment process or is it possible for it to be done online?

Thank you very much for your time,

Best regards,

Tesnime Kaabi

Dear Tesnime Kaabi,

the information below is based on the assumption that you wish to apply for medicine as a non-EU applicant.

First of all, you have to have the diploma you obtained abroad recognized by us. You can do this until May 31st. You can find more information about recognition here: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... ldung.html

The actual application phase starts on June 1st and lasts until July 15th. During this period you can apply via our STiNE application platform: www.stine.uni-hamburg.de

In order to start studying medicine at the University of Hamburg, you need German language skills at level C1: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... nisse.html
You must provide proof of this for enrolment.

Enrollment takes place online. You have 7 days to do this after you have received a notification of admission. For the winter semester, these should be available around mid-August. The semester then begins in early/mid-October.

Please note that as an international student who does not have the same status as German applicants (see: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... l#13652532), you will be selected on the basis of bonus points. You need at least 50 to be eligible for a place at Universität Hamburg. Better you collect more. Find out how here: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... cht-eu.pdf

Information for international applicants can be found summarized here: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... hluss.html

Kind regards
Sandra Hoffmann
