I have received an Acceptance Letter from the University of Hamburg for a Master of Science in Physics. My queries are in regards to the Enrollment Procedure:

- Insurance:
~ Since I am an international student what should I fill in the insurance field in the enrollment form.
~ The checklist has information about getting an exemption until I join the University in October 2024. Can I get some information and procedure on that?
~ The "Health Insurance" section talks about securing or getting an exemption for health insurance from a public insurance provider. Can I please get some advice on whom to approach and how to go about it?
~ By what dates should I fill in my insurance details so that I can get enrolled at the University?


- As I just finished my bachelor's studies in India, I don't yet have a degree. So what documents from the checklist are applicable in my case and are needed before the enrollment deadline?

- What needs to be filled in the Mailing Address Section? I yet don't have a correspondence address for Germany.

- In the Bachelor's Degree uploads section, should I fill in my yet incomplete transcript?

- Can I please get some information about 'Alumni Support' from the enrollment form?

- Is there any provision for Studentenwerk in Hamburg?

- When do I need to pay the semester fee?

If you want to take out private rather than statutory insurance, you can do so. Afterwards, please contact any statutory health insurance company and ask to be exempted from the statutory health insurance obligation due to the private insurance. The statutory health insurance company must send us an electronic notification of the exemption.

By what dates should I fill in my insurance details so that I can get enrolled at the University?

Final enrollment can only take place once proof of health insurance has been provided. You should therefore take care of this as soon as possible. There is no specific date for this. I recommend that you provide proof by October 1 at the latest.

Enter your Indian address and send us a German address via www.uni-hamburg.de/kontakt-cc as soon as you have one.

Leave the field empty. Please submit your Bachelor's certificate by March 31, 2025 at the latest. At www.uni-hamburg.de/nachreichen

It does not exist. You must submit the enrollment application without alumni support.

Is there any provision for Studentenwerk in Hamburg?

When do I need to pay the semester fee?

You will receive a request to pay the semester contribution in Stine under Documents in August at the earliest.
