Hello,
My name is Deren Mecitoğlu, and I am currently completing my undergraduate degree in Turkey. In the application system, under the "Previous Studies" section, I selected the "Study Abroad" option as I currently study in Turkey.
However, I also spent one semester in Germany as part of the Erasmus exchange program. In this case, should I also select the "Eramus Exchange Program" option under the exchange program section? Or is this section only meant for students originally enrolled at a German university and participated in an exchange program elsewhere?
Additionally, does one semester of the Erasmus program count as a "vacation semester"? I would appreciate your clarification on these matters.

Best regards,
Deren Mecitoğlu

Dear Deren Mecitoğlu,

if you choose “study abroad” in the “Previous studies” section, you can indicate under “Exchange program” that you have taken part in an Erasmus program. To do this, select “Eu program: Erasmus”.

A semester abroad can be a vacation semester, but it doesn't have to be. At Universität Hamburg, for example, you can only be granted a vacation semester upon application. If your semester abroad at your university was a vacation semester, please enter this in the online application.

Kind regards

First of all, thank you for your response. I would like to ask one more question. I have a question regarding the section 'Information on higher education entrance eligibility' in the application system. I completed the university entrance exam (ÖSYM) in Turkey, but I am unsure whether I should check the box stating, 'I have further proof of higher education entrance eligibility (HZB) that I obtained earlier.' Could you please clarify whether this applies only to those who have obtained university entrance eligibility within the German education system?

Thank you in advance for your help. I appreciate your time and assistance.
Kind Regards

Dear Deren Mecitoğlu,

a higher education entrance qualification means, among other things, an Abitur. If you completed your education outside Germany, this is what is meant. However, we will only accept your school leaving certificate, if it has been recognized by us in advance or if you can present another recognition document.
