Bearbeitet Request for Early Admission Decision Due to Exceptional Circumstances – Master’s in Economics Application (Tracking No.
Hello everyone,

I hope this message finds you well.

My name is Ali Sayed Ibrahim, and I am an international applicant from Egypt who has applied for the Master’s program in Economics at Universität Hamburg for the Winter Semester 2025. I submitted my application well as early as possible before the deadline of March 31, and I have been eagerly awaiting the outcome.

I understand that admission decisions for this particular program are scheduled to be released on July 23, unlike most other Master’s programs at Universität Hamburg which released results on May 28. While I fully respect the university’s policies and timelines, I am writing to kindly request whether it might be possible to receive an early decision on my application due to some exceptional circumstances.

As an international student, I will need to undertake several time-sensitive steps once admitted—such as securing a visa appointment at the German Embassy in Egypt, completing financial documentation, acquiring health insurance, and preparing additional paperwork for both the embassy and the university. These processes often involve long waiting periods, especially the visa appointment and processing, and I am concerned that receiving an admission decision by late July may not leave sufficient time for all of this to be completed before the semester begins.

Additionally, after admission and visa procedures, I must enroll at the university and obtain a certificate of enrollment to meet requirements related to my conscription status in Egypt. This process also takes considerable time and is essential for my ability to travel and study abroad.

One of the important factors behind my choice of this particular program was its early application deadline, which I hoped would also allow for an early decision and enough time to prepare. Given the situation, I respectfully ask whether it would be possible to review my application earlier or consider my case for an exception.

My application tracking number is BW-1960825, and I believe my profile aligns strongly with the goals of the program. I have been ranked first in my undergraduate class throughout my studies and am confident that my academic background and motivation make me a strong candidate.

If it is not possible to accelerate the decision timeline, I would be grateful if you could advise me on whom I might contact for further clarification or whether I can reach out directly to the program coordinator or admissions committee.

Thank you very much for your understanding and support. I truly appreciate your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you.

Warm regards,
Ali Sayed Ibrahim

Dear Ali Sayed Ibrahim,

1) I would strongly advise against publishing personal information here, since the Campus Center forum is public and anyone can read or google your information. I have deleted your personal information from your post.

2) "I am writing to kindly request whether it might be possible to receive an early decision on my application due to some exceptional circumstances."

Unfortunately, we are not permitted to disclose information about the applications prior to the official announcement of the results on 23 July 2025. Thus, we are unable to assist you with this issue.

Your situation is not uncommon. Sometimes, students are unable to arrive in time for the start of the semester due to visa issues or other problems. If your application is successful, and you have been admitted and can foresee that you will not be here in October, you have to discuss what can be done in this situation with the department responsible for the degree program.

Unfortunately, we cannot change our application and admission procedures, including the timing of result announcements, or make exceptions for individual applicants to compensate for external processes, such as visa processes.
Many international applicants would appreciate earlier information about their application and would benefit from an earlier declaration date. However, since we receive tens of thousands of applications each year in total, it is only possible to process them if they are carried out in accordance with general rules and a timeline for all applicants.

Best wishes
Thomas Walter
