Clarification on Enrollment & Late Arrival - MSc Physics
Verfasst: Do 28. Aug 2025, 21:41
Hello!
I am an international student who has got admission to the MSc Physics (English) program for the winter semester.
Since the visa process is taking longer than expected, I may not be able to arrive in Hamburg on time for the start of the semester.
I have sent an email to the academic office of your program to ask for confirmation that I can start my studies despite arriving late.
Because there is no deferred admission for this course, I had some questions:
1. Will it be possible that I pay the semester fees (~400 Euros) to remain enrolled, but actually start courses in-person in the Summer semester of 2026? (effectively meaning that I will be extending the number of semesters to 5, with the caveat being me having to pay for an extra semester [Winter 2025] in which I will not take any classes nor be present in person)?
2. Is there an online option for the classes for one semester (Winter 2025), so that I pay the semester fee but have the courses online, and start in-person from Summer semester 2026?
I would greatly appreciate your fast guidance on these matters, as I am feeling quite anxious about my situation!
