Inquiry Regarding Transfer of Credits for Technomathematik Program

I am currently enrolled in the Mathematical Finance master’s program at CAU Kiel and started in the Winter Semester 2025/26. I had also received admission to the University of Hamburg for this semester, but for personal reasons I chose to begin my studies in Kiel.

For the upcoming semester, I am planning to apply for a transfer to the Technomathematik master’s program at UHH. My main concern is that I do not want to lose the current semester, so I would like to know more about credit recognition.

My questions are:

1. Is it possible to transfer/recognize the credits I am completing at CAU Kiel for the Technomathematik program?

2. What is the procedure for the recognition of credits (contact office, forms, deadlines, etc.)?

3. Should I reach out to the examinations office (Prüfungsbüro) or directly to the department?

Additionally, I am currently living in Hamburg, so switching universities would be straightforward for me.

Any information, experience, or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Kind regards.

Hello Akshit Goyal,

Universität Hamburg may recognize coursework from previous studies if it is comparable to that required by your chosen degree program at Universität Hamburg.

If you have questions about the recognition of your previous coursework, contact the department responsible for the relevant subject (in your case: Mathematics): https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... ueros.html At Universität Hamburg, the individual departments undertake the recognition process separately.

At Universität Hamburg, coursework is officially recognized only after you are enrolled. Some departments offer a non-binding evaluation of your previous coursework prior to your application. Formal recognition, however, will only take place after you have enrolled in the relevant degree program.

Kind regards,
