I am writing to inquire about my eligibility for the M.Sc. Mechanical Engineering and Management program at Hamburg University of Technology.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a state-recognized university. My academic background includes extensive coursework in mathematics, mechanics, control systems, finite element methods, numerical methods, product development, and programming (Python).
According to the subject-specific requirements published for the program, I am confident that I meet the mathematics, mechanics, and mechanical engineering fundamentals criteria.
However, I would like to kindly ask for clarification regarding the minimum requirement of 6 credit points in business management.
My Bachelor’s curriculum did not formally include dedicated business or management modules as university credit courses. Nevertheless, my academic profile includes:
- engineering-oriented courses such as Product Development and Engineering Design,
- practical exposure to data analysis and information systems (Python programming, SQL workshop),
- and interdisciplinary project-based coursework.
In this context, I would like to ask:
1. Whether conditional admission is possible in cases where the business management credit requirement is partially unmet, with the option to complete missing credits during the Master’s program; or
2. Whether equivalent coursework (e.g. engineering management–related modules or officially recognized supplementary courses) may be accepted as a substitute for the business management requirement.
I would be very grateful if you could advise whether it is appropriate to submit my transcript for a preliminary eligibility assessment, or if you recommend any specific steps to improve my eligibility before applying.
Thank you very much for your time and support. I would greatly appreciate your guidance.
