I am writing to kindly inquire about the possibility and procedure for deferring my admission to the Master’s program in Business Mathematics at the University of Hamburg. I have been admitted for the Summer 2026 semester; however, I am currently not in Germany and will need to obtain a student visa before I can begin my studies.

Given the time required for the visa application and processing, I would like to ask whether it is possible to defer my admission to a later semester, such as Winter 2026, and what steps I would need to follow to request this deferment.

I would greatly appreciate your guidance on this matter.

a deferment of admission is not possible. Please contact the faculty and ask for the possibility of late arrival. The contact can be found at the end of the application information: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/onTEAM/studi ... ematik.pdf

Please be aware: A late arrival means that your enrollment still starts in summer semester 2026 but you start your lectures later. That would mean, you’d still have to pay the semester contribution to get enrolled, even though you do not start your studies until your actual arrival.
