Bearbeitet Inquiry Regarding Proof of English Language Proficiency for Master’s Application
Dear Sir/Madam,

I am currently preparing my application for the Master’s program in Political Science and would like to kindly clarify a question regarding the proof of English language proficiency.

As far as I understand, a Bachelor’s degree fully completed in English may be accepted as proof of sufficient language proficiency. In my case, I am currently finishing a Bachelor’s degree at another German university that has been conducted entirely in English. However, since I am still in the process of finalising my Bachelor’s thesis, I have not yet obtained my official diploma. At the same time, the IELTS certificate that I initially submitted to begin my studies has already expired.

In this regard, I would like to ask whether it would be possible for me to apply for the Master’s program under these circumstances. In particular, as the application form includes a specific section requiring proof of language proficiency, I would be very grateful for your guidance on what kind of document would be appropriate to submit.

For example, would it be acceptable to upload my current transcript of records indicating that my courses have been conducted in English, or could I alternatively request an official confirmation from my university stating that my degree program is taught entirely in English? If these options are not sufficient, would it be advisable to register for a new IELTS examination and provide proof of registration, even if the test date would fall after the application deadline (March 31)?

Thank you in advance!

Kind Regards
Liza
