I am currently part of an ODL in CS from an Indian university and would like to apply for a masters program in Data Science at the University of Hamburg. I saw this mentioned in minimum admissions requirements: 24 ECTS credit points in mathematics, from which 6 ECTS credit points were obtained in the field of stochastics (probability, statistics). My mathematics courses have a total of 18 Indian credits which should translate to anywhere between 27 to 36 ECTS.
However, my degree only offered one course for probability and statistics and that was a 3 credit course. We do not have two separate courses for probability and statistics, just the one course. By converting to ECTS credits, this course would lie around 4.5 to 6 ECTS. As I do not meet the minimum criteria for probability and statistics, I would like to know if potential bridge courses could be taken from websites such as Coursera in order to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the area. If so, would it be possible to know what courses would I be required to take in order to demonstrate my knowledge?
I would also like to inquire regarding the possibility of taking remedial courses for probability and statistics in the university if taking online bridge courses is not accepted.
Thank you,
Shreyas Nitin
