Inquiry Regarding Admission Requirements (Anglistik/Amerikanistik BA)

Dear Sir or Madam,
I was advised by the Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik to contact the Campus Center about admission requirements.
I am interested in applying for the Anglistik/Amerikanistik BA programme. Most importantly, I would like to inquire about the level of German language requirements for admission to this major.
I am a Hungarian citizen, but I have been living permanently in Germany since 2025. I recently completed my secondary school leaving examinations ("Érettségi") in Hungary at a bilingual secondary school with excellent results. Several of my subjects were taught and examined in English, and I completed my English Language final examination at an Advanced level. Under the Hungarian education system, my secondary school leaving certificate is considered equivalent to a C1-level English language proficiency examination.
Although I am dedicated to learning, my German language skills are still developing. While I understand a considerable amount of spoken and written German, my active speaking skills are currently at around the A2 level. I am highly motivated to continue improving my German both before the start of the academic year in September, and I am also prepared to attend DaF courses alongside my studies.
I am aware that a certain level of German is necessary in order to follow introductory seminars and participate fully in university life. At the same time, it is my understanding that most of the Anglistics programme's core courses, seminars, and examinations are conducted in English.
Therefore, I would be grateful if you could clarify the following:
Is it possible to begin English Studies (BA Anglistik/Amerikanistik) without having a strong command of German?
What level of German language proficiency is required for admission to Anglistik/Amerikanistik BA? In what ways do I need to prove my level of German?
As I understand it, participation in the University's DaF courses is only available to enrolled students. This leaves me somewhat uncertain about the available pathway: if enrolment is required to access the University's German-language courses, but a higher level of German is required for application, what options are there for applicants in my situation to begin their studies?
Given my academic background, strong English proficiency, and permanent residence in Germany, I would find it very unfortunate if my current level of German were the sole factor preventing me from pursuing a degree programme.
Thank you very much for your help,
Villo
