Inquiry Regarding Late Arrival Deadlines, Deferral Procedures, and Fees – M.Sc. DSAI (Matrikelnr.: 8070451)
Verfasst: Di 15. Sep 2026, 12:50
Dear M.Sc. DSAI Team and Academic Office Informatics,
I hope this email finds you well.
My name is Ali Raza (Matriculation Number: 8070451), and I am enrolled in the M.Sc. Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program for the Winter Semester 2026/27.
I am currently preparing for my student visa application from Pakistan. However, as of today, I have not yet received my visa interview appointment/invitation from the German Embassy in Islamabad. Given this delay, it is increasingly likely that my visa will not be issued prior to the official start of the semester on 1 October 2026.
Please note that I will complete the payment of the €402.00 semester contribution before the official deadline of 1 October 2026 specifically by 24 September 2026 (at least one week prior to 1 October 2026 to ensure timely processing and account activation).
While I hold the official Bescheinigung Visum issued by Referat 30—which explicitly confirms that late entry during the semester or commencing studies in a subsequent semester is permitted—I would be grateful for your guidance on the following specific points:
1. Late Arrival & Module Registration Cut-Off: While lectures begin on October 12, 2026, is there an absolute deadline or cut-off date by which I must arrive in Hamburg to complete module and course registrations for the Winter Semester 2026/27?
2. Embassy Documentation: Does the M.Sc. DSAI department issue any additional departmental confirmation regarding late arrival, or is the central Bescheinigung Visum from Referat 30 sufficient to present to the German Embassy/Consulate in Islamabad?
3. Semester Deferral Procedure: If the appointment scheduling and visa processing prevent me from arriving within a viable timeframe for this semester, what is the exact administrative procedure to defer my start to a subsequent semester (e.g., Summer Semester 2027 or Winter Semester 2027/28)?
4. Semester Contribution Roll-Over: In case of a deferral, can the semester contribution fee paid for Winter Semester 2026/27 be carried forward/rolled over to cover the deferred semester, or would a refund request and re-payment be required?
I plan to attend the online Orientation Unit (OU) sessions from October 2–7 where possible, but your guidance on these matters will help me plan my travel and administrative steps effectively.
Thank you very much for your time, assistance, and support.
Best regards,
Ali Raza
