Applying with a foreign school 'Abschluss'

Hello :)
I'm a dual citizen German/Australian. I have completed school in Australia and so do not have German 'Abbitur', but a Tasmanian Certificate of Education. I'm interested in a Bachelor degree in Oceanography for 2017. Question is, am I able to apply normally as a German and use an Australian school Certificate? And how would I find out if such a degree is valid or recognised in Australia?

Dear Rubie,

You have to apply as a German applicant who has acquired a higher education entry qualification abroad. When filling out your application, state your German citizenship. You must hand in a preliminary documentation of your school leaving certificate from uni-assist and proof of German language proficiency. You can find further details about these documents and all the steps of the application procedure at our online-platform International Guide:
www.uni-hamburg.de/iguide_e (Sign up for the group Bachelor/Staatsexamen)

Regarding the validity of a B.Sc. degree in Geophysics/Oceanography from Universität Hamburg in Australia, you should clarify with your future employer/future educational institution if they accept this degree.

Kind regards,
