Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this e-mail finds you well.

Hereby, I am contacting you because I have couple of technical questions regarding the enrollment procedure.

Namely, I have received my Letter of Acceptance (MSc Politics, Economics and Philosophy) and in order to fulfill the enrollment application I am required to submit a copy of my Exmatrikulationbescheinigung, due to the fact that at the moment I am still enrolled at another German university (I am currently enrolled in my last semester). I am aware that it is possible to submit Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung at a later stage in September, but hereby I would like to inquire whether it would be anyhow possible if I could submit that document by the end of October 2019, because due to some unforeseen bureaucratic delays I might finalize my current Master of Arts studies (and receive Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung consequently) in mid October. In other words: is it possible for me to be enrolled at Universität Hamburg in Winter Semester 2019, even though I might not have completed my current studies on a Master level at another German university by the end of September 2019? (Although I have finalized my BA studies)

Secondly, I have a question concerning the proof of my health insurance that I am also obliged to submit in order to enroll. Namely, I have a valid European Health Insurance Card, but the problem is that it expires on 6th October 2019. In order to renew it for the upcoming academic year I need to submit a Confirmation of Enrollment to my health insurance fund. Therefore, my question is: Is it possible to receive (of course, after I pay the semester contribution) the official Confirmation of Enrollment in September, so that I can renew my health insurance for the next academic year in due time? Also, when I send you my enrollment application, will you accept my current proof of health insurance (which expires in October) as valid?

Dear Sebastian,

You can also submit your exmatriculation certificate later on. The disadvantage is that you will not receive your final semester documents until all documents have been submitted. An enrollment with short-term overlapping is possible. Please submit with your enrollment documents an informal statement that your current study is in the final phase.

You will not receive the semester documents until all documents have been submitted. In this case, submit your current insurance proof. You can then hand in the new proof later on. If the semester document of your current university is not sufficient to complete a new health insurance, talk to the insurance agency about your concern. Possibly submitting other documents is sufficient to complete a new insurance for the moment.
