Dear Sir / Madam,
My question is a very specific one. I hold a bachelor degree on Business Administration (Ingeniero Comercial) which I obtained at the Universidad Federico Santa María in Chile.
I read that it is a requirement for non EU students to go through the "check of preliminary documentation procedure" (VPD), however since I got a 5 years degree from a chilean university and considering the information given by DAAD (please see link below), I am assuming that I am not required to do the degree verification process.
https://www.daad.de/deutschland/nach-de ... 86&ebene=3
Could somebody confirm this? I just want to avoid that when I apply to the MIBAS, I am not able to because my grade was not verified by uni assist.
I will highly appreciate your prompt response.
Thanks in advance.
Warm Regards,
José Ulloa.
Dear Mr. Ulloa,
All applicants with a degree from outside of Germany have to get their documents checked in a "preliminary review documentation" procedure by uni-assist e. V. (University Application Service for International Students).
Without the preliminary review documentation by uni-assist your application will not be valid and therefore will get rejected.
This is not to check if you have a higher education entrance qualification, it's to see if your Bachelor's degree is equal to a German university degree and to convert your grade into German grading system.
You can find further information about the procedure, the required form and a list of all necessary documents listed at https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... ldung.html
Please also notice that the responsible department is currently changing the application procedure for the application period starting on 15th February. You should check the web site of the program for further information right before the application period again: https://www.wiso.uni-hamburg.de/en/stud ... mibas.html
With kind regards
Antje Schulzki

Dear Antje Schulzki,
Many thanks for your prompt and clear response.
Just a few more questions:
Is it possible to send my documentation online as pdf? If so, is there an e-mail / person to whom I should send my docs? Should I ask this to somebody else?
I will appreciate your response.
Thanks again.
Best Regards,
José Ulloa.

Dear Mr. Ulloa,
To get the preliminary review documentation you have to send authorized paper documents to uni-assist.
It's planned that applicants can upload all required documents in the online application portal STiNE as written on the webpage of the program. The final decision will be made till the start of the application period (15th February till 31st March).
Please check again the information at https://www.wiso.uni-hamburg.de/en/stud ... mibas.html then.
With kind regards

Dear Antje Schulzki,
Thanks for your response.
For the sake of clarity, I was asking if it is possible to upload my documentation to a uni-assist website to allow them to check my preliminary documentation or should I only send the documentation as hard copies to this address uni-assist e.V. 11507 Berlin, Germany?
I know that it is now possible to upload documents for the application process itself, but do not know if I could also upload documents for this preliminary review...
Sorry for asking too much but I am new on this and just want to avoid any misunderstanding.
For your cooperation, many thanks.
BR,
José Ulloa.

Dear Mr. Ulloa,
For the preliminary review documentation from uni-assist it is mandatory to submit paper documents to uni-assist. They require authorized/certified copies, which means an official institution like the German embassy in your country or an official notary has to put a stamp and a sign on the copy and certify the copy is equal to the original document.
The address you've mentioned is correct. You just send your documents there, pay the fee and then it takes 4 till 6 weeks until you get the preliminary review documentation.
Don't worry about too many questions.
Maybe it will help other applicants to understand the procedure, too.
Kind regards,
Antje Schulzki
