Bearbeitet Application Requirements
Hello,

I am currently enrolled at an American university with a graduation date of 27 April. I have a couple questions regarding the M.Sc. in Economics program requirements for application. The program requires at least three courses in mathematics, statistics, and/or econometrics. Although I have completed both calculus and statistics, I am currently enrolled in econometrics; therefore, I will not have proof of completion of this course or proof of diploma until 27 April. I am under the impression that there is conditional acceptance for those who have yet to complete their program, but will do so during the current semester as long as they submit their official documents by the end of their first semester in the masters program. Is this the case for required classes as well?

Also, I have found that other schools accept a degree from a English speaking institution as proof of English proficiency. I have attended 100% of my schooling, outside of a semester abroad, in the United States, and English is my native language. Am I still required to submit proof of English proficiency through a language test, or will my degree be enough to prove this?

Thank you for your help!
Re: Application Requirements
Dear broweale,

There is conditional acceptance for applicants for the master program Economics in the sense that you do not have to have finished your bachelor degree at the time of application. This, however, does not extend to the proof of necessary courses completed. So if you cannot prove that you did acquire the credits in classes necessary for admission with your application, your application will be rejected. Since the credits required for admission for the master program in Economics depend on the type of degree you are acquiring though, I cannot give you a definitive answer regarding your question about the course in econometrics. Regarding this question, I would recommend that you read the application information for the program carefully: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/onTEAM/studi ... omics.pdf If after reading that information you are still not sure whether your previous qualifications fulfill the admission requirements, you have to contact the department offering the program directly, since the selection process for that program is administered by the department. Contact details are provided on the last page of the information document.

Regarding your question about the English language skills, I can give you a definitive answer: Your studies in English won't suffice as proof, so you will have to submit proof of English proficiency through a language test. The tests accepted are listed on page 3 of the application information document.
