Bearbeitet Confusion in HZB details
Hello!

This is Praveena from India. I was applying for Masters in Physics on STiNE and came across the section where I have to fill my higher education entrance eligibility (HZB) details. I am confused whether this means by school leaving certificate details or undergraduate details.

Besides, universities in India has a CGPA grading system (out of 10) or a percentage system. What should I then enter in the grade coloumn?

Thank you for your assistance
Re: Confusion in HZB details
Dear Praveena Melepatte,

1) Question regarding the section "Information on higher education entrance eligibility" of the application form

a) A “higher education entrance eligibility” is neither an admission requirement nor a selection criteria for the master’s program you want to apply for ("M.Sc. Physics").
Therefore, all information you enter in regard to the “higher education entrance eligibility” are only for statistical purposes and do not affect your application.

b) Usually, the “higher education entrance eligibility” is the highest secondary educational qualification.

In Germany, the most common form of "higher education entrance eligibility" is the so-called “Abitur”, i.e. the school-leaving certificate obtained after 12 or 13 years of school, which allows the holder to begin an undergraduate program at a German university.

I do not know what the equivalent in your educational system is. However, you can just enter the information for the last educational qualification you got, before you studied at a university.

2) "Besides, universities in India has a CGPA grading system (out of 10) or a percentage system. What should I then enter in the grade coloumn?"

This is a question in regard to a different section of the application form, "Information on undergraduate program or first degree program". In this section, you must provide information about the university degree that qualifies you for the master's program.

Please pay attention to the information in under "Notes" next to the field "Final grade":
If you completed your first degree abroad, enter 9,9 here. Your final grade will generally be converted to the German grading system during the selection procedure.
Please also have a look at the information under "Recognition of Transcripts for Degree Programs Completed at Foreign Higher Education Institutions" on page two of the application information for this Master's program: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/onTEAM/studi ... hysics.pdf.

Best wishes,
Thomas Walter
