When I am trying to log in for the first time using the credentials provided to me to activate my account, I am unable to log in. It shows me an error message saying 'Something went wrong'. Kindly advise me.

if you are still expiring problem with your login, please send a screenshot (entire screen, not just the error message) via the contact form of the Campus-Center: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... enter.html.
I assume that you have read the FAQ in STiNE and have taken the usual steps ( i.e. restarting the devices, changing the browser, deactivating add-ons/plug-ins, deleting the browser cache, etc) to ensure that there are no technical problems on your side.
