Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to kindly inquire about the application validity according to the Computer Science section at the University of Hamburg.
After the end of my last academic year, I am planning to apply with 3 Full A levels: physics, maths and Arabic as a first language. Additionally, I will include my IELTS results as well as a certificate from the Goethe-Institute authenticating my B1 level of the German language.
Considering these academic requirements, will they be valid enough and sufficient to apply with, or will i have to adjust my subject choice or my proficiency level of the German-speaking language?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Dear Ali waleed,
1) If you want to study an undergraduate degree program at the University of Hamburg I would ask you to take another look at our website for prospective international students, where you will find all the relevant information for an application (application deadlines, admission requirements, selection criteria, proof of German language skills, recognition of foreign educational qualifications, practical steps in the application process, etc.): https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... hluss.html.
If you have any further questions about a specific point after reading the information on this website and the additional websites linked to it, please use the Campus Center's contact form: https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscen ... m_content=.
2) As you can see, there are two relevant general admission requirements for all undergraduate degree programs for applicant without a German higher education entrance qualification :
a) Recognition of the foreign educational qualification as higher education entrance qualification
- Information regarding the recognition process we conduct at the University of Hamburg: www.uni-hamburg.de/assist.
- General information on the types of foreign educational qualifications that can be recognized as a higher education entrance qualification in the recognition procedures we (and other German institutions) conduct can be found here: https://anabin.kmk.org/no_cache/filter/ ... d_gewaehlt
Please note that the foreign degree certificate itself cannot serve as proof of a 'higher education entrance qualification', and that you will have to submit a document confirming the recognition of your foreign degree as part of the enrollment process.
This means that almost all international applicants must first apply for recognition of their foreign educational qualifications in order to obtain the necessary documentation, that we require at the time of enrollment.
Recognition process and application for a place to study are two separate procedures with different deadlines and regulations.
b) German language skills on level C1 - www.uni-hamburg.de/german-language
A complete list of all accepted language certificates can be found on this website. Certificates not listed on the website will not be accepted.
Best wishes
Thomas Walter
