Recommendation Letter

Hi there,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to clarify whether the recommendation letter is a mandatory requirement or optional for the Master’s degree program in Politics.

Unfortunately, I can be unable to provide a recommendation letter due to personal constraints. I would appreciate it if you could let me know whether this will affect my application.

I suppose you are refering to the Master degree program Politics, Economics, Philosophy M.Sc. ?

In the section "Documents to submit" you will find the following information:

"Two letters of recommendation from a university lecturer in your first degree program.
The lecturer must hold a PhD and must be full-time employed at an institute of higher
education. Please note that we do not usually accept references from postdocs/research
fellows. If in doubt, please contact application-pep.wiso@uni-hamburg.de. Under the
following link we provide a reference form the lecturers may use. In general students
upload the letters of recommendation as part of their application documents in Stine.
Lecturers, who want to upload their letters confidentially at our website"

Dear Jack,
it would be up to the selection committee of the program to decide whether they accept your application if one of the requirements has not been fulfilled. Usually these requirements are mandatory. Please contact the faculty directly if you wish to ask them about it. You can find their contact details in the respective admission info PDF.
