Bearbeitet universities in Germany/ studienkolleg/ direct enrollment/ (Very Much Needed Information)
Hello,

I have a foreign school leaving certificate that doesn't allow direct enrollment at a university in Germany.
That means I need to enroll at a studienkolleg first and I'm afraid that won't be possible right now because of certain circumstances. But I have read, somewhere on the DAAD website, that I can study at any university in any country that accepts my enrollment directly and finish the first year of any program that shares the same subjects as the program that I intend to study in Germany and only then will I be eligible to directly enroll at any university in Germany If I don't want to enroll at a studienkolleg.
So now I'm here because I want to make sure that applies to Hamburg university and that they will take the college hours I studied in the other country into consideration. Also, a DAAD counselor guided me to come to you and be sure of the exact subjects you want me to study at the other country in order to be qualified to study medicine in Germany and specifically at Hamburg university.
Noting that I will study that required year in Turkey and it will be either in English or German.

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Dear Rose,

Without knowing more about your exact school leaving certificate, I can't say for sure if studying for a year at another university will grant you the possibility to apply directly for medicine at Universität Hamburg. From your previous question here on the forum I take it, you have a school leaving certificate from Jordan. If you have the General Secondary Education Certificate, the information you got from the DAAD website applies for Universität Hamburg, too: You cannot apply directly with your school leaving certificate but either have to successfully complete the appropriate course and an assessment test at a Studienkolleg or you have to successfully complete a year of university study at an institution which will let you enroll directly in a subject which is directly related to the subject you want to study at Universität Hamburg later.

Whether you study in English or German does not make a difference as to whether you will be eligible to apply at Universität Hmaburg after your studies. The exact classes you take will not make a difference either, but the program you study will have to be a program in medicine if you want to continue studying medicine at Universität Hamburg later.
