Questions on insurance and exemptions

To whom it may concern
I am a PhD student at the Polytechnic University of Bari (Italy) and will be undertaking a research period at Universität Hamburg, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ingenuin Gasser, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences, Department of Mathematics—Applied Mathematics.
I would kindly request your assistance with my enrollment as a 'free-mover' for the upcoming winter semester.
Having completed the necessary steps, my application currently holds a 'Received' status, however, I am now concerned about the health insurance requirements.
As a holder of a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), I would like to inquire if it is possible to bypass the process of contacting a German public health insurance provider. If not, I would be grateful if you could provide detailed guidance through the required procedure, as navigating it as a foreign student can be quite complex.
Additionally, I would greatly appreciate a list of relevant links and direct contacts, rather than having to search through various websites.
Thank you for your time and assistance.
Kind regards,
Marco Desiderio Loffredo Senesi
